Illustration Classroom (University of Oviedo): Keys and creation of an illustrated album

Beginning next Monday, March 20, 2017, Juan Hernaz will direct and give the “Classroom of Illustration: Keys of interpretation and creation of an illustrated album”, within the program of University Extension Classrooms of the University of Oviedo. A program open to the public in general that means an educational bridge between the institution and the society.

From March 20th to May 29th, the appointment will be held every Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Severo Ochoa Classroom of the emblematic Historical Building of the University (c/ San Francisco, 1, Oviedo, Spain).

The approach of the course will start from a historical journey from the precedents of the illustration to the album illustrated nowadays, through the analysis of different albums that have assumed, and suppose today, a milestone in the genre, cornerstones that allow understanding the communication scope of this literature. The theoretical and analytical trip will end with a 3-hour session that will thoroughly explain the process to approach the creation of an illustrated album.

The course, 20 hours in total, will be complemented by a practical exercise to be developed in 5 non-classroom hours, which will allow us to put into practice part of the learning and achieve compatibility with 1 ECTS credit, for those university students interested.

It will also have the collaboration in two sessions of two exceptional guests:
Gonzalo Moure Trénor , a writer specializing in children’s and youth literature, with a wide and renowned career, winner of, among other awards, the “Gran Angular”, “Barco de Vapor”, “Primavera”, “Ala Delta” and several “White Ravens” at Bolonia Book Fair;
Paco Abril , critic, articulist, essayist, storyteller, plastic artist, teacher and expert in illustrated album and promotion of reading. National Prize for the Best Critical Work of Children’s Literature and Scientific Dissemination Award of the RSEF, among others.
